Snow Patrol take 3

So last night I went to my third Snow Patrol concert in a little over 13 months… when I’d heard they were touring again I was a little bit hesitant about going the third time, but when Em said she was going/wanted to go, I was like decision made, I’m seeing them. And am I glad I went or what… best gig out of the 3 by far. In fact I rate the 2nd gig (the Hordern one) lowest on the list. But yeah so awesome, I can live with probably never hearing them play anything from Songs for Polar Bears and When It’s All Over We Still Have To Clear Up.

Why oh why are the Manics playing Summer Sonic and not doing what all bands seem to do and come onwards to Australia?

Like for a minute there, I had hope… until it was ruined by seeing they were heading back to England… but if they’re playing in Greece and Turkey you’d think there must be a slight chance that they’ll come out to Australia soon right? (ignoring the fact that Greece and Turkey are on the other side of the world)…

Play!

So yesterday night I went and saw (or really should be ‘heard’) PLAY! A Video Game Symphony at the Opera House and it was super cool. Like nerdy music cool all in one… and there was Super Mario and Sonic the Hedgehog along with other cool tunes from video games. Except that all of today and even now, I’ve got the Super Mario theme in my head… which was such complete awesomeness in itself that you have to watch the YouTube version of when it was played in Stockholm.

And apart from that the other highlight would’ve been the freezing wind and rain trying to find a taxi at 10:30pm at night.

Would it be considered just a little bit extreme?

If I went to yet another Snow Patrol gig??? I know I complain about them selling out, but it’s all about the music in the end. But is 3 times in just over a year just a little bit extreme? To be exact, it would be something like 1 year, 1 month and about 2 weeks… (not that I was actually counting or anything)… and I would just be getting my hopes up that they play old stuff, which never happens…

Lonely People of the World, Unite

For some reason the name of this album had popped up in my head recently…

It’s sort of indie rock with a few catchy songs… I can’t recally exactly when I listened to it for the first time. but I seem to remember thinking the title was awesome in some weird way or another…

But deviating from the above… why is the weather so hot??? I know it’s excellent beach weather and all, but when your aircon is semi dead (i.e. leaking water issue), it’s kind of somewhat painful even sitting in complete darkness…

When You Were Young

We use to go to lots of rock concerts and have lots of fun getting squashed in the mosh and going partially deaf for the night. The Killers last night was awesome! Coming up next on the lineup… Snow Patrol and the Red Hot Chili Peppers…

omgwtf more Snow Patrol awesomeness tours…

Woot another tour! I’m not surprised at all this is happening, but with all the airplay they’ve got recently on ER, Jericho, One Tree Hill, the 3 times they’ve been played on Grey’s plus the reference to their album on Veronica Mars, the gig is going to be packed with an awful lot of teenyboppers.

Either way, I’m going to be there for sure… here’s to hoping they play stuff from Songs For Polarbears…

ahhhhh the last 1+ years has been an awesome music year… Stereophonics, Oasis, The Living End, Coldplay, Snow Patrol, Ben Folds and U2
Not to mention coming up in the first half of 2007 – The Killers, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Snow Patrol (again :-) )

E is for Entertainment…

American TV season has started up again and I’m in TV and music heaven as they kind of somewhat go together. Now you’ve probably all heard me rave about Snow Patrol for ages… but as of late they’ve sold out… Not that selling out is a bad thing, but the use is really somewhat getting out of hand. Still I reckon it is somewhat awesome to hear them on big hit tv shows, considering they were previously somewhat nobodies… Just in the last 2 weeks they’ve been played on both Grey’s (again for the 3rd time!) and Jericho….

Speaking of Jericho, after I watched the first episode I mentioned to a mate it was a lot like Lost, and woah behold I read this article that that’s what others have been saying… it’s Lost without the island and plane crash really. Oh and Ugly Betty turns out I’m also not the only one who reckons it’s like The Devil Wears Prada… We’ll see if those two shows survive it past their first season….

Other than that…. apparently the Big Day Out line up comes out this Wednesday???…..

I have a new found appreciation of orchestral instruments…

So I caught Ben Folds and the SSO last night with Trish at the Opera House. I’m really glad I bought tickets to it, ‘cos it was pretty damn awesome if you ask me. Having an orchestra which is normally associated with classicial/symphpny music, really made for a very interesting musical experience, adding all these other layers previously not present. Songs I really liked… Still Fighting It, Army, One Angry Dwarf and 200 Solemn Faces. Brick was good, but it didn’t really have the full orchestra supporting it so for me, it was like hearing the normal version in a way. Argh now I have this need to listen to big band music…
